Business Activities:
Tacmat Trading sells a variety of food items to the Marapong community. Under the leadership of an entrepreneurial person, the company has experienced significant growth as it has drawn more customers and continually expand its product and service offerings. Due to its distance from Lephalale town, Marapong township has a significant demand for these products and services. During the period, the business managed to secure 8 months contract with Rheiland Investment, to instal glazing at housing development around Marapong.
Challenges/Needs:
Amongst other things, the following challenges were discovered during discussions and whilst the business advisor was conducting comprehensive business assessment:
• Inadequate knowledge of financial management and other relevant business skills resulting in poor financial performance and management
• Limited stock to cater for the needs of the community
• Poor visibility of the business resulting in low patronage, mainly due to lack of any form of signage
• Lack of training in inventory management, which result in loss of revenue.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
• The client was enrolled and attended a financial management and inventory management trainings that was organized by Sedfa.
• Client was assisted to apply for grant funding with W&R Seta.
• Client was assisted to apply for grant funding with W&R Seta.
Outcome Details:
• The client is now capable of managing the business finances and accurately documenting financial transactions.
• Client is now capable to management stock accurately.
• Client was approved and assisted with grant funding of R6 500.00 to purchase stock.
• The turnover of the business over the past six months has risen from R24 000.00 to R1 122 206.03.
• The business employment has increased from 1 to 3 jobs.
