Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: Through various interventions initiated by the Branch, the Branch enrolled the client into a 10-month Seda Enterprise Coaching Programme.
Productivity SA was also brought in as a stakeholder to assist the client with a comprehensive productivity improvement programme.
In addition, Label Lab was also assisted with the implementation of a quality/food safety management system and based on the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and FSSC 22000 standards. This decision was taken to enhance the efficiency of its processes and to ensure that customers (especially customers in the food industry) have confidence in the safety of printed labels supplied by the organization.
Furthermore, in order to prepare the organization for a certification audit, Sedfa completed an intervention on pre-certification internal audit on the systems and processes of Lab label. During this audit, the following documents, amongst others, were reviewed: quality/food safety policy, quality/food safety objectives, scope of the management system, prerequisite programs, product recall procedures, cleaning programs, non-conformances, HACCP plans, competence, management reviews, calibration of equipment, food fraud and food defence systems, communication, pest control program, etc
Lastly, there is another intervention in the pipeline to assist Lab label with the implemented quality/food safety management system to be certified by an independent certification body. This will increase customer confidence in the quality of products and services offered by the organization. This will further assist the organization to manage its systems and processes efficiently. This will result in increased customer satisfaction and increased market share.
Outcome Details: Over a period of three years there has been huge success in improving Label Lab’s turnover from R 8 918 795.00 in FY 2022-2023 to R 14 727 362,83 for FY 2024-2025, which is an incredible 65% turnover increase.
