This is because they do not have capacity to provide or submit a bidding document to various potential clients. Limited exposure to contract negotiation and business management hinders competitiveness. This reduces opportunities for securing supply agreements.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
To strengthen the capacity of Kalahari All Trade Primary Cooperative Limited, members were upskilled in business development, contract negotiation, and tender application processes. In addition, detailed guidance was provided on how to respond effectively to Requests for Quotation (RFQs), including assistance with pricing strategies. This intervention was designed to improve the cooperative’s competitiveness and significantly increase its chances of securing contracts and deals.
Outcome Details:
As a direct result of the intervention, Kalahari All Trade Primary Cooperative successfully submitted a competitive bid for the manufacturing and supply of school uniforms. The co-operative secured a contract to deliver the following items:
• 19 pairs of girls’ shoes
• 57 pairs of girls’ socks
• 38 tunics
• 19 girls’ pull-over jerseys
The total value of the contract amounted to R124,715.00, marking a significant milestone for the cooperative in establishing itself within the clothing manufacturing sector and demonstrating its ability to deliver on formal contracts.
