Akhule Aphile (Pty) Ltd t/a Honchos - KG Mall is a wholly black youth owned franchised retail restaurant business enterprise founded and led by Mr. Thembinkosi S. Ndlangamandla. The establishment of the business was wholly supported and funded by Sedfa following the client’s successful application with Honchos Franchise South Africa. The business is operating from the leased commercial property in KwaGuqa - KG Mall and is owner managed, with a full support from the franchisor. The business created thirteen (13) job opportunities for the local youth of eMalahleni, generating monthly sales revenue of not less R180 000,00.
Challenges/Needs:
THE CHALLENGES.
• The day the client was introduced to Seda.
Client was first on-boarded as Sedfa client in July 2024, following the client’s visit to the branch (Sedfa-Nkangala) for assistance with access to market interventions to help improve the business market visibility and presence and hence, its sales revenues following the deal restructuring. The assessment of the business operations was then conducted using Small Business Assessment Tool (SBAT) and the following challenges were identified:
1. Limited Market Access.
Sustainability of any business, especially the retail food restaurant, largely depends on its ability to attract customers, generate sales and improve its revenue. The business was operating below the break even, which resulted in Sedfa having to restructure the deal.

✓. Increase number of employees from 08 (as at the Assessment Date) to 13 (as at the Improvement Assessment Date).
