The company manufactures non-alcoholic fermented beverages, the beverage is fermented for its probiotic benefits. The business uses natural ingredients some ingredients are intended to be grown by small scale farmers. Currently NNH have recruited and In the process of training 40 small scale farmers based around Kokstad.•NNH is focusing on producing probiotic rich products derived from indigenous South African plant resources. Therefore, Pondo Energy drink, Pondo Artemisia Elixir and Pondo – T Kombucha are the current products produced. These are products that are aimed at restoring African pride and spirit; it is products that are meant to unlock opportunities, as they are made from local resources
Challenges/Needs:
• The product needed to go through product analysis to ascertain the chemical efficacy and shelf life, which has a direct impact on the price and the quality of the product.
• The client lacks equipment to manufacture the product in quantities that can yield returns for the business
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
Sedfa, through SABS have assisted the business with product testing for chemical and efficacy as well as shelf-life improvement which was done and completed in November 2024.
Seda, through Asset Assist Programme, also funded the business with manufacturing equipment that will allow production at a medium scale as the business is currently manufacturing at a micro scale. The delivery of such equipment was completed in December 2024.

Outcome Details:
The client was approved 223 063,58 worth of equipment through the Asset Assist programme which will increase on productivity by 50%
Improved turnover, from R212 709,10 from the previous financial year to R231 519,00 for the current year.
Employment decreased from 3 to 1 employee currently.
