Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
The purpose of Woodys Takeaways is to serve as a dual-offering retail outlet and food service provider for the local community.
Products/Services:
Tshisanyama Food: Ready-to-eat grilled meat meals, a popular and high-demand food offering in South African townships.
Spaza Materials: Essential consumer goods, groceries, and household items
typically found in a convenience/spaza shop.
Challenges/Needs:
A Critical Planning Exercise (CPE) Assessment was conducted on the business, and the following key challenges that hinder the growth of the business were identified:
1. Capital and Stock Constraints – the business is undercapitalised and currently lacks the working capital to maintain optimal stock levels, resulting in missed sales opportunities.
2. Lack of financial controls as the owner of the business lacks financial literacy.
3. High Operating expenses ratio -total expenses of the business (of records kept) are higher than the total revenue. This further indicates that the current pricing, sales volumes, and/cost structure is unsustainable.
