The business operates 5 hectare fenced farm in Monti A/A in Mbizana. The location provides ample space for growing a variety of greens and herbs year-round as the climate is ideal.
Challenges/Needs:
The immediate challenge of the business was lack of cooling, cold room, storage and packing area to keep vegetables fresh for a long time. The owner has since approached Sedfa for assistance with access to funding of the business.
To improve sales within the company, there has to be increased effort to make sure that the business sells fresh produce to potential customers. The intervention was a fundamental step that will assist the business towards the process of attaining access to finance, hence the implementation of intervention of Asset Assist.

The client was referred to a business advisor who, after consulting with the client, registered the client and conducted the diagnostic assessments on the business to ascertain the business needs. The assessment revealed that the business was very sensitive to sales and that it also required aggressive marketing.
As a Business Advisor I assisted the business with access to funding to meet all the requirements of Asset Assist program.

Outcome Details:
The performance of the business also improved in that the turnover increased by 29% from R265 561 to R343 215 as a result of the interventions they were assisted with by Sedfa.
