The business delivers high quality meals and maintaining a safe, efficient kitchen. HOS Café (Pty) Ltd was established in 2017 and currently offering catering services for corporate events and also running a canteen at Wits University.
Challenges/Needs:
• The business got awarded a three year contract to run a Canteen at Wits university, however they did not have capital to service this contract.
• Inadequate equipment and lack of capital to purchase kitchen equipment to service the Wits Canteen Contract.
• As a result, the business could also not get approval of Certificate Of Acceptability (COA) which was a requirement for compliance in the food handling and hospitality industry.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
• SEDFA business advisor conducted an assessment and established a need to assist with developing a funding proposal and facilitated a funding application for the business.
Outcome Details:
The assistance from Sedfa created the following results for the business:
• The business funding application was successfully approved for R 250 000.
• HOS Café (Pty) Ltd was successfully able to start-up the Canteen at Wits University and get the necessary COA accreditation.
• As a result the business managed to sustain five jobs and employ the staff permanently.
