Business Dynamics and Challenges

Business Activities: ICT (INTERNET SERVICES)
Challenges/Needs: The main challenge preventing UDYNET from realising these objectives is the lack of critical infrastructure capital, specifically the R240,000+ required to build the Naval Hill tower. Without this high-elevation transmission point, the company cannot achieve the line-of-sight coverage needed to serve multiple communities efficiently. Additional barriers include limited access to public-sector procurement opportunities, high upfront costs for spectrum licensing and equipment, and competition from established ISPs. Overcoming these constraints requires targeted funding, regulatory support, and strategic public-private partnerships.

Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: SEDFA supported UDYNET through the Asset Assist programme by providing critical infrastructure funding of R250,000, enabling the acquisition of a transmission tower on Naval Hill and essential networking equipment. This intervention has significantly enhanced UDYNET’s capacity to deliver high-speed internet across Bloemfontein and surrounding townships, accelerating its mission to bridge the digital divide.
Outcome Details: Thanks to the comprehensive support from SEDA Mangaung, UDYNEY has achieved significant commercial milestones that have transformed its market position and revenue potential. This includes participating in the SA Connect broadband roll-out which is part of the Dept of Science Technologies program to afford households to have 50GB free internet by end of 2026
