Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
The business was established to serve the local community with convenient access to everyday grocery items and household essentials
Challenges/Needs:
As the business grew, Mr. Machobane struggled with proper inventory control and financial management. Stock shortages, occasional over-purchasing, and limited record-keeping practices made it difficult to maximize profits and ensure consistent supply for customers. Without structured systems, the business risked losing competitiveness and sustainability
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
In October 2024, Maseza General Dealer was invited to participate in training on inventory and financial management, under the Wholesale and Retail Seta programme administered by Sedfa. The training equipped Mr. Machobane with practical knowledge on stock control, pricing strategies, record-keeping, and managing cash flow effectively.
Following the training, in April 2025, the business received funding in the form of stock worth R6,000. This intervention not only boosted operational capacity but also provided immediate relief to cash flow constraints, enabling Maseza General Dealer to broaden its product offering and meet growing customer demand
