Ms. Ntshingila lacked prior experience and the skills necessary for operating, managing, and expanding a business. Among the challenges she faced were deficiencies in business planning and marketing, as well as limited financial resources for property renovation. The guest house failed to project a professional image that would attract the target clientele. Ms. Ntshingila faced challenges in promoting the guest house, which led to low occupancy rates.

Sedfa Amajuba supported the client by providing marketing materials (Light box) to promote the guest house and enhance its professional image. Ms. Ntshingila was also given the opportunity to attend Basic Business Skills Training, aimed at empowering her with essential management knowledge.
SEDFA Amajuba, in partnership with EXXARO, conducted a Pitch for Funding initiative for clients within Dannhauser Municipality to present their business proposals, with the opportunity to win a prize of R250,000. Ms. Ntshingila was invited to participate in the Pitch for Funding Masterclass, with the objective of equipping her with the essential tools and strategies for securing funding.

As a result of installing a lightbox, the business saw an increase in bookings for long-term stays from clients such as the Department of Education and ESKOM.
Ms. Ntshingila’s winning pitch led to her being one of the top three winners of the SEDFA/EXXARO Pitch for Funding Competition, earning her a prize of R250,000.00 to support her business.
Additionally, monthly turnover increased by 63% from R19,000 to R31,000 during the assessment period. The business also created one new job while maintaining two existing ones.
Three Gees Guest House also successfully acquired additional land adjacent to the premises to add more rooms.
