Yintwenhle Consulting is a professional civil engineering consultancy specialising in road and transport engineering, water and sanitation infrastructure, roads and highway design, stormwater management systems, structural and civil works, as well as site supervision and project management services.

One of the key challenges faced by the business was the inefficiency and time-consuming nature of completing engineering designs, technical drawings, and design analyses. The manual and semi-automated processes previously used limited the speed and scalability of project delivery, particularly when dealing with complex infrastructure designs.
In addition, the business encountered challenges related to:
1. Design Accuracy: The absence of advanced design tools increased the likelihood of human error, which often resulted in design revisions, delays, and in some cases, rework during implementation phases. This impacted project timelines
2. Difficulty in Making Design Amendments: Without sophisticated design software, making changes to existing drawings and models was a laborious and time-intensive process. This lack of flexibility reduced the business’s ability to respond swiftly to client feedback, regulatory requirements, or on-site variations.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
The client was encouraged to apply for the Asset Assist Programme, through which the application was successfully approved. A total amount of R226 497.00 was awarded to the client to support with software acquisition.
Outcome Details:
The intervention had a measurable impact on the operational and financial performance of the business. The support provided enabled the client to overcome key challenges and improve overall service delivery. The following outcomes were achieved:
1. Revenue Growth of 76%- The investment in design software and improved business processes resulted in a substantial increase in revenue. By enhancing efficiency and service quality, the business was able to take on more projects, improve client satisfaction, and grow its client base, leading to a 76% increase in turnover within the reporting period.
2. Job Creation and Team Expansion- As operational capacity improved, the business expanded its workforce by employing two additional staff members. This growth not only supported project delivery but also contributed to skills development and job creation.
3. Improved Design Accuracy and Faster Turnaround Times- The introduction of specialised software significantly enhanced the precision and reliability of designs and technical drawings. In addition, turnaround times for project deliverables were greatly reduced, enabling the company to respond more quickly to client needs, adapt to design changes efficiently, and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
