Following SEDFA’s intervention, the business has since expanded its services to include a car wash, allowing customers to have their vehicles cleaned while their meals are being prepared enhancing the overall customer experience.

• Inadequate operational equipment limiting the business’s ability to serve customers effectively.
• Limited access to funding required for equipment procurement.

Intervention Details:
Based on the assessment, the following interventions were implemented to address the identified challenges:
• Business skills training with a focus on compliance and effective management.
• Provision of signage and promotional materials to enhance visibility and attract new customers.

Outcome Details:
The business has seen notable improvements across several key performance areas:
• Increased Customer Base: Visibility through signage and promotional materials has attracted more customers for both the shisanyama and cooked food services. The newly introduced car wash service has also contributed to increased foot traffic and revenue.
• Turnover Growth: Turnover increased from R180,000.00 (at the time of the initial assessment) to R240,000.00 as per the improvement assessment conducted in September 2025. This represents a 30% increase (R60,000.00).
• Profitability: The rise in turnover, coupled with the introduction of a new revenue stream (car wash), resulted in a noticeable increase in net profit. These improvements are directly attributed to the SEDFA intervention in marketing and visibility.
• Employment Creation: The business expanded its workforce from 1 to 4 employees, marking a 300% increase and contributing to local employment.
