The two entrepreneurs first visited SEDFA in June 2023 Seeking business development support. During consultation and assessment, the following challenges were identified:

Limited to access funding to acquire assets, livestock and infrastructure.

The owners lack financial management and budgeting skills.
•
Limited Resources and knowledge on how to commercialise the farm to reach optimum production levels and be sustainable.

The farm had recently experienced a significant loss due to unfavourable weather condition, resulting in a significant drop in revenue from R753,770 in the 2022/2023 financial year to R182,436 in the 2023/2024 financial year.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
The client received assistance with developing a business plan and submitting a funding application to Land Bank.

The business received support through financial management training and Financial Clean up.

The client continued to receive business advice through consultations from Sedfa.

Outcome Details:
Turnover increased from R182,436 to R 1 240 186 per annum.

Three new jobs were created, increasing employment from 7 to 10 jobs.

Through financial management intervention, the client successfully planned and managed sunflower production, which led to a significant improvement in turnover.
