Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
Events Management, Consulting, and Training Services
Challenges/Needs:
One of the major challenges faced by Tumelo Tladi Industries during 2023 was the lack of reliable transport. The business relied on an ageing vehicle that was prone to frequent breakdowns, making it increasingly difficult to visit clients, attend sales meetings, and pursue opportunities across multiple provinces. This limitation directly affected the company’s ability to grow its client base and expand its footprint beyond the Eastern Cape.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
To address this challenge, the business applied for funding support to the 2023/24 Asset Assist Programme. Following this, the client received further assistance through a mentorship programme. The mentorship was designed to help the business achieve the goals set out in its Asset Assist application
Outcome Details:
The business was supported with the purchase of a reliable vehicle to the value of R245 019.57. As a direct result of this intervention and the subsequent mentorship support, turnover increased from R143,628 prior to mentorship to R223,504 (55.6%). In addition, the team expanded from 24 to 35 employees, creating further employment opportunities within the hospitality and tourism sector.
