Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: SEDFA supported Bophelong through two key interventions:
1. Basic Business Skills Training Programme - covering three SAQA-accredited unit standards:
US 119673 - Identify and demonstrate entrepreneurial ideas and opportunities.
US 119666 - Determine financial requirements of a new venture.
US 119669 - Match new venture opportunity to market needs.
This training equipped Mavis with essential skills in entrepreneurship, financial planning, and matching products to customer needs.
2. Provision of a signage board - to enhance visibility and attract walk-in customers, resulting in increased foot traffic and sales.
Outcome Details: The results of these interventions were transformative:
• Turnover increased from R0.00 to R105,000, driven by increased events, improved marketing, and customer attraction.
• Net profit reached R15,450, reflecting a stronger financial position.
• Employment increased from 1 to 7 staff members, creating 6 new jobs in the community.
• Operational expenses rose to R89,550, aligned with higher activity and sales volumes.
• Enhanced visibility through signage significantly boosted customer engagement, especially for bakery and cooked meals.
• Strengthened community impact through expanded food provision initiatives.
