Challenges/Needs: An assessment conducted by SEDFA revealed that the business had the following challenges: • They have an extensive customer base that requires a robust logistics and goods delivery plan- outsourcing delivery was costing the business a lot of money and affecting its competitiveness. • Their equipment and infrastructure were aging resulting in frequent breakdowns and production downtime. • Cashflow issues were impacting raw material ordering. The challenges identified were affecting the daily operations and profitability of the business by posing the possible risk of job losses.

Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: Through the CDSP programme the business was assisted with the application for funding which resulted in in being funded with R2 128 610.00 which was used to support the business with delivery vehicle, production equipment and raw materials.
Outcome Details: The interventions by SEDFA has assisted the business to address its challenges and the following impact was realized:
• While their turnover remained the same, profitability increased by 23%
• They sustained employment for 30 employees and increased shift hours
