Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
They are farming crop 10ha worth of land, all being utilized for yellow maize which in turn serves as feed for both pigs and chickens. In the country, Chicken broilers have been raised in small numbers around the houses as a backyard flocks, or on the farm as a small home scale venture for many years but has shifted into a large commercial enterprise. Chickens are easy to raise. Also, poultry raising, as a family enterprise, offers profitable employment and recreation to the members of the family.
They are currently selling yellow maize, crushed maize and pig feed (grower). They plan on growing our market base outside of Bizana.
Challenges/Needs:
The challenge facing the business was that they were unable to meet the demand for crushed maize to make feed as the equipment was not enough. It was then important that the business gets its own machinery that has capacity to deliver to their customers on time. The intervention was a fundamental step that will assist the business towards the process of attaining access to finance, hence the implementation of intervention of Asset Assist.
