Business Dynamics and Challenges

Business Activities: The business produces a wide range of high-quality products, including pickled chillies, chutneys, atchaar, curry powder, and garlic paste. These offerings are a fusion of tradition, taste, and authenticity – all made locally in Alabama.
Challenges/Needs: Despite the promising product range, the business faced several critical challenges that limited its potential for growth: • The owner lacked formal business management skills. • Products were not tested for nutritional values or shelf life by the SABS. • There was limited access to mainstream and formal markets. • The business was not compliant with statutory requirements. • Product packaging lacked barcoded labels, which hindered retail placement. • Marketing materials were non-existent or informal. • Access to finance was a major hurdle, limiting production capacity.
