Below is a detailed breakdown of the challenges; • Lack of essential piggery equipment such as feeding channels, waterers, and waste management systems • Inadequate fencing to secure the piggery and protect the pigs from predators or theft. • Lack of computers, printers, and other administrative tools for record-keeping, planning, and communication. • Insufficient PPE for workers, which compromises safety and hygiene standards. • High cost and inconsistent supply of quality feed and supplements for the pigs. • Limited access to affordable veterinary services and medicines for disease prevention and treatment • Lack of a reliable vehicle for transporting pigs, feed, and products to the market.

Intervention Details: The cooperative was assisted with CDSP application for funding by SEDFA.
Outcome Details: CSDP funding was approved and amounted to R 564 927.10 to buy Piggery Production Equipment, Fencing and Small Tools, Administrative Working Tools, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Feed
and Supplements, Medicine and Veterinary Services, Delivery Vehicle (Bakkie).
