Second, the business operated without formal human resource policies, which resulted in unclear workplace rules, undefined job roles, and a lack of performance and behavior standards.

Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: Following a thorough diagnostic assessment, two targeted interventions were implemented: the development of comprehensive human resource policies and the provision of financial management training. These initiatives aimed to strengthen the internal management capacity of the business
Outcome Details: Through the financial management skills acquired, the business owner was able to track and monitor which services contribute more to profitability. As a result, the business was able to increase its annual turnover by 68% from R3,012,541 to R5,046,204. This was achieved by identifying more profitable services which was the jobs carried on the yellow machines. The business strategy going forward, is to acquire more jobs on these services to maximise profitability. The business owner is also able to interpret and make informed decisions based on financial reports compiled by external accountants.

Implementation of HR Policies assisted the business to comply with labour laws, health and safety regulations and employment standards. The business was able to retain its 6 employees from the previous assessment stage and created 2 more jobs.
