Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: The client's initial engagement with SEDA occurred at a Small Business gathering held at KwaMhlanga Hall. During this event, the client had the opportunity to learn more about SEDA, meet with a Business Advisor, and gather information about the available options to address her business needs.
The Business Advisor facilitated the client's registration onto the SEDA portal. Through a thorough consultation and understanding of the client's business requirements, the advisor identified and scheduled interventions tailored to address these needs. These interventions included Basic Business Skills Training and Asset Assist Funding.
The client successfully attended the three-day Basic Business Skills Training held in Kwaggafontein and was awarded a certificate upon completion. Subsequently, she applied for the Asset Assist Funding for 2024, which was successfully approved. As a result, the client received all the requested tools and assistance, enabling her to enhance her business operations effectively.
Outcome Details: SEDA's intervention has significantly benefited the client in various impactful ways, facilitating remarkable business growth and operational improvement:
• The acquisition of marketing and promotional tools has enabled the business to expand its clientele, enhancing visibility and trust among customers.
• Initially operating with just one trading branch, the business has successfully expanded to establish a second branch, made possible by the procurement of additional working tools.
• Business clientele has doubled, reflecting substantial growth and increased market visibility, which has fostered greater client trust and loyalty.
• The business has secured a stronger and more stable client base, with a notable rise in loyal customers. This growth trajectory has also resulted in a steady increase in new business acquisitions.

The lengthy and often frustrating back-and-forth exchanges involving quotation requests, amendments, and document submissions from suppliers were noted as key pain points. While she understands that policies and procedures must be adhered to, the client suggested that the process be reviewed. She emphasized that these complications can be particularly discouraging for disadvantaged small businesses that may lack the resources or financial means to repeatedly comply with such administrative demands.
