Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
Safari Braai Products was established in 2002, and it is managed by Mr. Peter Reinstorf, who has 50% shares in the business. He is operating the business with Vinia Reinstorf, who has 25% of the shares and VIP Trust owning 25%. This George-based business provides a wide range of quality braai and outdoor merchandise such as firelighters, charcoal, briquettes, firewood, braai equipment and camping-related products. The products are distributed thorough out the Southern Cape.
The Safari brand is a household name in braaiing and outdoor lifestyle, and they are proud to provide top quality products to the consumer market. The business is growing from strength to strength and it is now sold nationwide through various retail outlets, forecourts, and butcheries. Safari manufactures firelighters under its own brand but also packs private labels for many national companies such as Shoprite/Checkers, Fruit & Veg Group, Henneck Sacks and Agrinet. Safari sources all its charcoal products via its ‘sister’ company Braai Bricks for Africa, which contract packs Namibian charcoal in Safari’s branded bags.
The products are locally supplied to major retail supermarkets such as Pick ‘n Pay, Shoprite/Checkers, OK, SPAR, Food Lover’s Market and restaurants. They also supply to wholesalers such as Jumbo cash & carry, Brito’s & Megasave, national forecourts, and other independent outlets. During peak season periods Safari supply directly to camping sites and holiday resorts.
Besides Safari brand, there are other brands licenced for national and international markets such as SHOPRITE Holdings, Heneck Sacks (Pty) LTD, AGRINET, Food Lover’s Market & and Sefalana. Safari easily adapts to change their production lines to produce according to the client’s needs
