Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
ANLAG operates within the agricultural sector, producing vegetables using shadenet structures. The main crops produced are robot peppers, spinach, peas and
green beans.
Challenges/Needs:
As a result of off-take agreements with their diverse markets, the volumes requested were often too large, and ANLAG struggled to meet the growing demand. It became clear that the area planted
under shadenet needed to be expanded, but the business lacked the funding to invest in additional space.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
Sedfa used a tool called the Small Business Assessment Tool to identify appropriate
interventions that will assist ANLAG in reaching the desired levels of growth. After completing
these assessments, Sedfa decided to assist with the funding application to access the Department of Small Business Development's Asset Assist Programme.
- ANLAG’s application for funding was approved for an amount of R245,945,00, with the
funding going towards the acquisition of additional shadenet structure.
