The company prides itself in providing tailored culinary experiences and seamless event management services for corporate functions, weddings, private parties, and community events. Challenges/Needs:
The company struggled to gain a growth trajectory in the initial start-up phase due to inadequate funding and limited marketing exposure, which severely hindered their ability to be competitive in the market.
Ms Afrika quickly identified a new opportunity amongst the corporate sector comprising of local government departments and Independent Power Producers. She decided to register her business with the Supply Chain Departments of these organisations with the hope of securing contracts within her area of specialisation. It was a struggle in the beginning as she battled with pricing techniques and completing application forms correctly.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
Ms Afrika attended a 3-day Tender to Secure Training intervention offered internally through SEDA in May 2024. The programme covered key topics such as Compliance, Risk Management, Pricing and Cost Efficiency in tendering which proved to be critical in the months to follow.
Outcome Details:
Prior to attending the SEDA Tender training intervention, Lucumulwethu had only been awarded two (2) projects. Post intervention, the company has been able to secure the following four (4) tenders within a four (4) month period:
