This has harmed the business’s ability to maximize profits resulting in stagnant growth.

Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: Miss Dlamini was registered as a Seda client, and a comprehensive assessment was done on the business operations to ascertain the gaps as well as to inform appropriate interventions.
Exxaro Mines and Seda partnership is aimed at developing businesses in various communities where Exxaro Mines operated mining operations that are currently under closure. The partnership included a Pitch for Funding Competition, whereby MSMEs would participate in pitching their businesses to a panel of judges in the hopes of winning R250,000 prize money. Seda Amajuba linked Maka Ndalo’s Beauty House to the programme by inviting the client to attend the following:
• Pitch for Funding Masterclass
• The client was empowered with professional pitching tools and techniques on how to deliver a successful pitch.
Outcome Details: The business was able to win R250 000.00 funding from Exxaro Mines through the pitch for funding competition, as she was selected as one of the top three in the competition.
Maka Ndalo’s Beauty House subsequently received an invitation to take part in a six-day coaching programme (EMPRETEC) in Johannesburg as part of ongoing development. The coaching programme was also funded by EXXARO Mines.
As a result of winning, she was able to purchase salon equipment, a container and stock for the business.
As a result of Seda’s intervention, the business was nominated in the category of Fashionpreneur Of The Year at the She Awards Africa 2024.
