The kitchen is fully equipped, and the bedrooms offer stylish en-suite comfort whilst fully furnished with luxurious furniture which was funded through Asset Assist and are in a process of being graded. They realized that there are Government Departments in Mount Ayliff that have people visiting from various towns and there is a need of accommodation. During their research they noted that a Guesthouse with a conference center would be a viable business in the area.
Challenges/Needs:
The immediate challenge of the business was lack of visibility as it was not easily seen by potential clients as well as lack of equipment. The owner has since approached Seda for assistance with marketing of the business and for funding through Asset Assist programme.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
The client was referred to a Business Advisor who, after consultation registered the client and conducted diagnostic assessments on the business. The assessment revealed that the business was very sensitive to either and increase or decrease of sales. One important issue the business had to focus on was to increase the turnover.
Outcome Details:
Through the increased marketing efforts and improved visibility, the performance of the business improved in that the turnover increased by 39% from R287 665 to R472 000.
Employment has since increased from 5 to 8 employees and approved funding amounting to R240 929.20
