The current operation entails 100 hives in active operation for the production of raw honey. Bongi Bees sells its honey from the container shop situated at the gate, sells to various guesthouses, restaurants, and independent retail shops .
`The business teach and train new beekeepers and provide coaching for existing small beekeepers including selling additional bee products. The funding for is training was received from NGOs and corporate companies.
Challenges/Needs:
Bongi Bees is finding it really hard to grow the business due to inability to afford professional and qualified staff, low productivity, lack of processing equipment and lack of capital. To develop from a smallholder beekeeper to a commercial beekeeper, requires a minimum of 400 beehives. The business also needs accreditation as Training Services Provider, packaging materials and access to international markets

Intervention Details:
Sedfa assisted the client with Financial Management Information Systems implementation, Marketing - Signage, 2 exhibitions and a Gazebo. The business attended Grow my Business training and was assisted with advisor as well as referral for the Tshwane Women In Business Mayoral awards and Agri-processing Entrepreneur of the year.
Outcome Details:
Sales increased tremendously; The client attended exhibitions and won the TWIB Mayoral awards as well as the MEC-Agri-processing Entrepreneur of the year awards
