The business was founded and registered in 2015 by Mr. William Mabena who is the sole founding Director in the business. Following his successful application with Department of Rural Development & Land Reform to lease a 421,9861-hector farm (30 years lease) situated on the outskirt of Witbank (Verena Road) under eMalahleni Local Municipality, initially for the purpose of livestock and crop farming, client then decided to expand his business revenue stream to incorporate a Guest-House & Lodge providing various activities including accommodation, quad biking, hiking, trophy hunting among other services.
Currently, fifty percent (50%) of the overall business revenue is generated from the Timber Farming (& Timber Processing) unit of the business.

1. The business had recently expanded its revenue stream to
incorporate a Guesthouse & Lodging business unit (i.e.
Ashleigh Holdings (Pty) Ltd t/a Blackwood Lodge) with no
marketing & brand awareness plan to help the business
attract potential clients and continuously improve its market
share.
Core Grading Requirements.
1. The business establishment had not applied for compliance
& grading of the business new establishment with the
relevant grading council (i.e. S. A. Tourism Grading
Council) to ensure and affirm the quality & services of the
establishment.

Seda Practitioner assisted the client to apply with the Tourism Grading Council of S. Africa for grading of the business establishment. The process has since been concluded and the business was awarded a 4-Star grading with certain recommendations to be attended to.

Following the SEDA’s intervention support with both access to market (Signage) and successful grading of the business establishment by the Tourism Grading Council of S. African:
1. The business turnover increased from R600 000,00 (as at
the First Assessment date) to R1 140 000,00 (as at the
current Improvement Assessment date).
2. Increase employment from 05 employees (as at the first
assessment date) to 16 employees (as at the current
Improvement Assessment date).
