NMK Landscape and Garden Centre is a 100% black youth owned rural based company located in Kremetart suburb 2km west of Giyani Town, Limpopo Province. It was conceptualized in 2015, by an inspiring youth entrepreneur Mr Anel Khosa. The business operates in the landscaping and garden services industry.
Challenges/Needs:
• The owner wanted funding but lacked the skill and knowledge to develop a business plan.
• They needed assistance with product testing.
• The business needed proper financial management systems to manage its cash flow.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
• To address the challenge of lack of capital, Seda developed a detailed business plan which was completed and forwarded to the Technology Transfer Assistance (TTA) division and Leda.
• The client was also assisted to apply for funding from Nyda.
• Client was assisted to apply for funding through Asset Assist Programme (ASP).
• Business start-up 1 course was offered to the client.
• It was recommended that the client be assisted with product testing with SABS.
• The client was part of a nine-month SECP coaching program until March 2023.
• The client was also assisted to apply for funding from Nyda.
• Client was assisted to apply for funding through Asset Assist Programme (ASP).

Outcome Details:
• The business secured funding of R50 000 from Nyda which was utilised to purchase production equipment and raw materials.
• Leda approved funding of R480 000 which was used to purchase tools and equipment.
• An amount of R240 000 was approved through Asset Assist Programme which was utilised to set up four (4), knitexx shade net greenhouses.
• The client was assisted to test his products, and they are now SABS approved.
• The financial recording process has improved due to availability of proper financial recording systems.
• The company’s annual turnover increased from R2 393 976 to R2 872 711 pa, an increase of 20%.
• The number of employees increased from six (6) to eight (8), including the owner.
