Star B Chemicals is an emerging chemical manufacturing company. It was registered and started its operations in 2017, under the management of the founding Director, by Ms Nyeleti Baloyi. It manufactures household cleaning chemicals such as pine gel, dish washer, floor polish, stay soft, tile cleaner, engine cleaner and car wash liquid. It operates at No.1602, Section E Township, under Greater Giyani Municipality, Limpopo Province.
Challenges/Needs:
• The owner wanted funding but lacked the skill and knowledge to develop a business plan.
• They were an unknown brand and only a few people were aware about their existence.
• The business needed proper financial management systems to manage its cash flow.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
• To address the challenge of lack of capital, Seda developed a comprehensive business plan and submitted to NYDA.
• The client was assisted to prepare an application and apply for funding through the Asset Assist Programme (ASP).
• The client was invited to attend the financial management training course.
• A service provider was appointed by Seda to design and print marketing materials which include a company logo, directional signage, stickers, labels, bar code, etc.

Outcome Details:
• NYDA approved grant funding of R99 000, which was utilized to purchase cleaning chemicals manufacturing equipment and raw materials.
• The client was approved for R249 941 through the Asset Assist Programme, which was utilised to buy chemicals, office equipment, graphics and a mixer.
• The number of customers has increased significantly and keeps rising daily.
• Its annual turnover has increased by 44% from R208 098 to R300 200.
• The number of employees has risen from one to seven, including the owner.
• The client was approved for R249 941 through the Asset Assist Programme, which was utilised to buy chemicals, office equipment, graphics and a mixer.
