Leshego Ceramics and Pottery is a manufacturing primary co-operative established in 2016 by five previously disadvantaged youth. The business is based in Acornhoek within the Bushbuckridge local municipality. It specializes in bakery and confectionery and manufacturing of clay products. The target market is commercial, residential area and the community at large.
Some of the company’s products being manufactured include bread, scones, cakes, rolls and specially branded tableware such as tea sets, platter plates, dinner sets, steak plates, casserole and coffee mugs. The company’s products come in various shapes, sizes and textures in order to meet different tastes and configurations as may be required by the customer.
Challenges/Needs:
• Lack of financial management skills,
• Lack of business management skills,
• Lack of capital to develop the business and
• Limited business exposure.
Intervention Insights and Results
Intervention Details:
• The client received a grant from Seda Co-operative development support programme to the amount of R1 422 579,90. The money was used to procure bakery equipment.
• The business sustained 9 permanent jobs and created 2 new jobs.
• Supply its products to the following clients:
Kruger Shalati, Tour Vest, Emnotweni sun in Nelspruit and Fatc (Forgotten angel theater collaboration).
• The business has been visited by the Minister Stella Ndabeni Abrahams in January 2024 in Acornhoek village where the business is being operating.
• The business sustained 9 permanent jobs and created 2 new jobs.
• Supply its products to the following clients:
