Gee Bravura is a South African Brand specialising in leather and textile products based in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. The business was founded by Ms Gcobisa Ndum-Ndum in 2021, Gee Bravura first started by reselling coats. From that position they realised an opportunity to design leather handbags to match perfectly with the coats. Leather crafts became their speciality as the love grew for it. Gee Bravura is a clothing and crafted handbags foundry. Their most prominent material is leather and fabrics of earthy tones for the unique creations of clothing, bags, wallets, laptop bags and belts. Gee Bravura is proud to have been fulfilling its client’s expectations and beyond for more than a year and half now. Their aim is to maintain and grow their market share to full contractible business from small to premium clients. The business is managed by a young -black woman who is eager to her business successfully. Ms Gcobisa Ndum-Ndum mission is to provide genuine, high quality leather products and create, cultivate long term relationship with clients. Gee Bravura services clients all over the country, as their product is appealing to their clients.
Challenges/Needs: The business experienced the following challenges: • Lack of funding to purchase necessary equipment and machinery • Lack of access to markets • Limited production capacaity • Lack of mentorship • No business plan to apply or funding • Lack of business and financial skills training Ms Gcobisa Ndum-Ndum approached Seda to get advice and guidance on how to take their business to greater heights.

The Seda business advisor, Thabo Ngwadla, carried out a diagnostic assessment on the operations of the company. The aim of the exercise was to assist the owner in identifying the company’s strengths and weaknesses and recommend appropriate interventions to improve the business.

The following improvement interventions were implemented:
• The business was assisted with the completion and submission of Asset Assist Programme application (ASP grant).
• The ASP application was for the purpose of acquiring the necessary equipment to improve their service offerings.
• Facilitation of mentorship and coaching
• ASF Trade Exhibition
• Productivity training
• Pop Up Market
• They were also assisted to submit an application to SEFA.
Outcome Details: Through Seda’s business support the business has realized the following benefits:

 The ASP grant application to the value of R240 183 was approved.
 The funding enables them to acquire the desired equipment.
 The upgrade in technology has enabled the business to increase their capacity and gain a competitive edge in the industry. They can now compete effectively within local markets.
 The employment has grown by 156%
 The business also received TREP funding worth R300 000 of which R50 000 is a grant, the remainder R250 00 is a loan.
