Heavenly Scents is a perfume retailer that is owned by Riewaan Hattas. The business is
registered as a sole proprietor and it is based in Kenwyn and run from the owner’s residential
premises. The business started out of necessity due to the owner becoming disabled and
had to find alternative means of income to support his family.
The business started operating in 2019 and it had to be closed due COVID-19 pandemic.
Once lock down was lifted, the owner started trading again and was at markets on most
weekends. Slowly the business started flourishing and word of mouth spread to the
community about the superior quality of the perfume at great prices. The goal of the
business is expanding the operations by renting a small premises to run his perfume business.

Intervention Details:
The client approached Seda Cape Winelands Branch for assistance to grow his business.
He was introduced to Yaseen Kasker, one of the Business Advisors who conducted a Critical
Planning Exercise (CPE) on the business. The aim of the CPE is to plan and prepare financial
projections for twelve months or more and simulates various “what if” scenarios.
The assessment assisted the business to make accurate, realistic financial predictions and
develop a plan which significantly contribute to the business viability.
The following recommendation was implemented:
• Facilitated attendance of Trade Exhibition for access to market.
