Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
Fiki’s Boutique is owned and managed by Mrs. Fikile Hilda Mngomezulu and has been informally operating since 1997. She started the business by selling fat cakes and buns. As the business grew, it diversified and began focusing on selling women’s clothes from 2021, offering various fashion styles for different age groups and striving to accommodate all sizes.
Like many of her competitors, she has faced challenges in her business journey but continues to thrive. The business operations have improved since receiving equipment support, including tables, chairs, and a gazebo. Before this, her clothing items were exposed to poor weather conditions such as dust, rain, and excessive heat, making it difficult to sell at desirable prices. Recently, she has also started stocking meat for resale and decided to work closer to her home due to the availability of fridge storage facilities.
