Business Dynamics and Challenges

Business Activities: A creative media company, Muzi Capital Media is redefining the field of high-performance media operations. Located in Thembalethu, George, the firm was registered as a private company in 2019 and is owned and managed by Mr. Siyamthanda Johns and Mrs. Sinovuyo Ndamase. Their primary project is Muzi FM, and they were formerly known as Thembalethu Media before changing their name to Muzi Capital Media. This was an essential change to make them appealing to a national, continental, provincial, and regional market. Muzi, is a Nguni (isiXhosa, isiZulu, isiSwati, isiNdebele) word for House or Home. They are a team of young creatives who are pioneering an ethical space where employees, partners, clients, and stakeholders will feel at home working with them. Through their pioneering approach to technology, economics, and creativity, they bring together a wealth of experience and expertise to deliver outstanding results for their clients. Their portfolio comprises Radio, TV, Advertising, digital marketing, and content creation, with each service designed to offer exceptional value to their clients. They pride themselves on ability to leverage cutting-edge technologies and techniques to innovate, excite, and captivate audiences across all media platforms.

Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: The client approached Seda for assistance; he consulted with one of the Business Advisors
who conducted a Critical Planning Exercise (CPE) on the business. The CPE is a planning tool
that prepares financial projections for twelve months or more and simulates various
“what if" scenarios. It assisted Mr Johns to make accurate, realistic financial predictions and
a plan to significantly contribute to the business viability. The CPE showed that the business
income needs to improve to ensure sustainability.
The following interventions were implemented:
• Facilitation of equipment through Informal and Micro Enterprise Development
Programme (IMEDP);
• Facilitation of alternative energy source;
• Facilitated grant application through National Youth Development Agency (NYDA),
and
• Development of marketing material.
Outcome Details: Through Seda’s business support, the business achieved the following benefits:
• IMEDP equipment was approved and delivered;
• Alternative energy source in the form of inverters through Industrial Development
Coperation (IDC) was approved and installed;
• Approved R50 000 grant funding from NYDA;
• Sales increased from R 0 to R 37 000 an increase of 100%, over 6 months, and
• Employment opportunities increased from 2 to 8, an increase of 300%.
