Feast of Eden was established in 2022 in George, South Africa. As a naturopathic Vegan chef,
with a passion for fermentation. The business is owned by Mr Michael Bird who is operating
it as a Sole Proprietorship, and decided to start a wholefood, organic fermentary that is
specialising in kimchi, sauerkraut, mushroom ferments, kombucha, and water kefir.
The owner has started supplying local stores along the garden route such as George,
Wilderness, Knysna, and Plettenberg Bay. To make the best-fermented foods in South Africa,
supply supermarkets and health stores and ultimately export abroad.

• Lack of marketing tool;
• Lack of finance;
• Lack of upgraded E-Marketing, and
• Lack of Trade exhibitions.

Intervention Details:
Export Readiness Assessment Tool (ERAT) was utilised to ascertain the stage of
development, the client is currently within its current business in terms of Export readiness.
This will identify gaps in various business areas in terms of business operations, production,
product quality standards, and export capacity. It is therefore important for this activity to
be developed to ensure the growth of enterprises into the export market.
The following interventions were implemented:
• Facilitated upgrading of the website, and
• Design and develop Packaging.
