Business Dynamics and Challenges
Business Activities:
Ndiwe Hair Salon was formed in February 2023 by Lindiwe Tshabalala. Her business is based in the Phomolong township of Namahadi, Frankfort, and is operated from her home. As the business grows, she aims to find a bigger place. Lindiwe gathered vast experience by trying out different hairdos on her sisters until neighbors and friends asked her to do their hair for a fee. She is self-taught, researches new techniques, and asks for advice on things she is unsure about, striving to perfect them or make them acceptable.
The business does not do house calls and often offers special discounts on certain hairstyles at the end of the month. Ndiwe Hair Salon is also striving to diversify by assisting clients with nails, a service she has begun to introduce on a small scale. The business received equipment support in December 2023.
Challenges/Needs:
Signage
Promotional materials
Access to funding – NYDA and DESTEA
Lack of bigger business premises
Financial Management Training
Business Profile
Electronic marketing

Outcome Details:
Through the implementation of Seda’s intervention, Ndiwe Hair Salon (Pty) Ltd was able to attract more customers and increase its income. The income has risen from R18,915 to R25,220 per annum.
