Challenges/Needs: In the year 2020, Covid-19 pandemic have seen several small businesses go through challenging time, Mafloza Catering and Projects was not spared by this challenge. Through Seda’s assessment of the business, the following development aspects were identified: • Training in financial management to develop entrepreneurs' financial management abilities. • Lack of marketing or promotional tools to help with business promotion and advertising. • No HACCP compliance certificate which is critical in a food business • Insufficient funds to purchase the necessary equipment to run the business efficiently.

Intervention Insights and Results

Intervention Details: • Seda supported the Client to attend training in Cooking and Kitchen Management. This training taught the client different methods of cooking, pricing, costing, and food safety improving the business’s services offering and business turnover.
• SEDA supported the client to attend Financial Management Training and apply for grant funding from W&R SETA.
Outcome Details: • The quality of service and products offered improved significantly.
• Client finances improved and applied for funding.
• Client managed to open new outlet, this made Mafloza Catering employ extra 2 people to assist in the new outlet.
• The opening of new outlet saw business Turnover increased from R339 725.00 to R425 675.00 which reflect 25.30% increase.
